Cleantech Kvarken takes part in the panel at the Botnia-Atlantica conference in Umeå September 21, 2017

Triinu Varblane from Cleantech Kvarken took part in the panel “How have we worked with gender mainstreaming?” during the Botnia-Atlantica conference in Umeå on September 21, 2017.

During the panel the project Cleantech Kvarken was presented, how the team has worked with gender mainstreaming within the project, what has been “easy”, what has been successful, what the challenges have been and concrete results and the business values during the conscious and continuous work.

It is important to also communicate the gender mainstreaming to the companies and organizations the project is collaborating with. “Many of the companies we work with changed their pictures in the company catalogue after we talked with them about equality during photoshoots”, says Triinu. The advices Triinu gives to others are to be open and not skeptical and to start with the simple things such as equality during recruitment, pictures, presentation, speakers at project seminars etc. “Instead of just writing reports, each of us can act”, she states. Triinu also reminds everyone to participate at Women With Impact in October, “Come and participate at Women With Impact in Umeå October 19, or in Vaasa in January 2018!”

Cleantech Kvarken and other Interreg Botnia-Atlantica projects that had two interesting and rewarding days during the conference in Umeå September 20-21, 2017. On September 21, the theme was gender equality.
